Thanks to Kathleen & Hadi at http://tripsfor2.wordpress.com for presenting me with my first blogger award!
“Sarah Lawton proves you don’t have to be on the road to appreciate travel elsewhere. Her posts from England about elephants in India are so … OK, motherly. We love her mom-and-kids photos of kayaking. (Kayaking is one of our favorite escapes.) Who can resist Sarah’s tagline: “There’s more to life than ironing!””
Rules for The Versatile Blogger award are:
- Write seven facts about yourself that aren’t well-known.
- Support other bloggers by sharing this award, with 15 blogs you follow.
Seven facts I have not revealed before on ‘Journal of an Adventurous Mother’
- I have suffered from Androgenic alopecia since the age of 13
- I have worn a glue-on hairpeice for the last year
- I had to shave the top of my head to wear the hairpeice
- Two weeks ago my doctor informed me I could no longer use the hairpeice following a prolonged infection
- I am now completely bald on top with long natural hair around the bottom - like a mad monk! Although I plait it down my back and turn myself into a ‘kickarse ninja warrior type’ instead (under the bandana – still not that brave… YET!)
- I may be able to get a ‘prosthetic hairpeice’ from the NHS so don’t want to shave completely until I know what they can provide
- The term ‘prosthetic’ makes me realise that hairloss could be a whole lot worse really – some people have to replace their limbs!
*phew* Not sure why I chose to reveal this now… I guess I’m feeling kinda ‘naked’ at the moment anyway and I’ve always prefered to be pretty upfront about my situation. My work colleagues are brilliant and really supportive. I have no issue whatsoever turning up with a full head of hair one day and in a bandana the next. Bless them all for that.
I guess I felt my first blog award should be recognised as a big deal…
Passing the torch
It feels really nice to be able to dish out awards!
Blogging isn’t as easy as many might think. So to produce regular fair worth reading by others deserves recognition. I am chuffed to bits therefore, to have the opportunity to praise the authors of these 15 blogs I follow.
And the award goes to…
- Indulge – Travel, Adventure, & New Experiences: An extreme traveller, now ‘with-child’. I look forward to hearing how Lesley deals with this new perspective on life! She reckons a baby backpack - lets see if she’s up for it post-birth.
I hope so!!
- talinorfali: Brighten up your day! Pretty in pink, Talin’s blog is well written and focuses on positivity.
- Deidra Alexander’s Blog: Her tagline is: ’I have people to kill, lives to ruin, plagues to bring, and worlds to destroy. I am not the Angel of Death. I’m a fiction writer.’ and her menu tags are: Blood Guardian, Zombie Craze, Dreamwalker and Voice of the Universe! Nuff said!
- johnnyandnanette: A down to earth blog about a couple that travel and a guy that cooks. All round nice with a personal focus on US locations.
- riseandroam: Jena Sprau, Mandie Groves, Jacque Smith are three young adults enjoying their freedom while they can – and all power to them! “Adults are just obsolete children and the hell with them.”
- eric murtaugh: a man after my own heart, Eric asks us not to misjudge our own, everyday adventures; “I believe you pursue adventure throughout your life no matter who you are. And because adventure comes in so many forms, you are often quick to identify your adventure not as an exciting or remarkable experience, but as a routine chore, just another component of life.”
- Victor Travel Blog: This chap has a cat so why wouldn’t I recommend his blog! He gets about a bit with his wife… and takes a camera.
- Roberta’s Blog: In a format I considered when I set this blog up (before deciding I couldn’t be that diciplined) Roberta offers readers something from a different cultural perspective every day: musical mondays, photographic Tuesdays, artistic Wednesdays, architectural Thursdays, current affairs from Sino-Africa Saturdays and more music on Sundays… A feast for any cultural butterfly.
- GMB AKASH: photographs from another world. Colourful. Wonderful.
- {♥} Fragments of Midnight: Share the world through the eyse of Allysha. A seventeen year old girl from Malaysia. She could be the girl next door – but she lives in Malaysia! What do she and I have in common? She loves elephants too!
- AnimalWise: Currently winning awards left right and centre – and for good reason. Congrats Paul Norris on a great blog about all creatures great and small. Including elephants of course!
- the unbearable lightness of being me.: Such a great blog title why wouldn’t you want to check it out. Plus: the macrophotography is fab!
- Teklanika Photography Field Journal: Field photography from Alaska! Need I say more?
- Deano Around The World: One for the boys – and the girls who appreciate reading things from the male perspective. Deano is from Australia, loves to travel and seeks adventure.
- Ann Novek–With the Sky as the Ceiling and the Heart Outdoors: Anyone interested in nature and wildlife should follow this blog. Ann is a prolififc reblogger who seeks out stuff I’m nearly always interested in. It’s a bit like having your own news hound!
Thanks to you all!
