Last night I attended the last of this term’s watercolour evening classes and, sadly, this will be my last class for sometime. I have to reserve my future evenings for preparations required for when I turn freelance at the end of June.
However, I was chuffed to bits to produce something I’m really rather pleased with on my last night. The goose painting above was clearly inspired by (copied from) a photograph I took recently with my new camera. See my past blog on ‘Birds of Emberton Park‘.
Do let me know what you think!

Great stuff. It’s really difficult to achieve the effects that you have with watercolour. Keep up the excellent work.

Thanks to my fab art teacher who had the idea to use a toothbrush to spray masking fluid first. I then used a wash and dabbing technique before rubbing off the mask, painting the goose and dabbing an over layer of pure white with a dry brush.
It was highly satisfying to create.

I do enjoy my space. But als have to make sure I’m not enjoying it the the point of selfishness. There has to be time left over to share with the family and be mum and wife. They are, after all, my top priorities.
There will come a time in future when I can once again afford to steal back another few hours a week for painting. But for now, it has to slip off the bottom of the list. Just for a little while.
Sarah
P.S. How lucky I am to have a list!
